Car is idling low, little rough

It's running right below the 800 mark.. probably 550 or 600. it shakes a little at idle. it did this since my head gasget got repaired, they probably just didnt set it right or something. which direction do i turn the screw? should i do it with the car on or off?

It was like this when i first got my car back, but just decided to bother with it now since ive been slammed at work lately.

I think that turning the idle screw to the right (clockwise) will increase the idle speed.

With the motor running you will hear the change. Make a mental note of where it was before you start.

Clockwise lowers the idle and anti-clockwise raises it.

Did you notice this before you put on your new glass pack? I have a free flow muffler as well and idle aroung 600 rpms and my idle sounds lumpy. I think that the factory muffler just covers up any lumpyness that is normal.

I've also had problems after getting my car back after the recall. When I got mine back my timing was way advanced and then it wouldn't retard all the way back. They said my TPS was bad. My car still isn't like it used to be before the work. Oh well.

Just turn the screw with the car running. It won't hurt anything if you turn it the wrong way. You will be able to listen to the motor. I'm pretty sure that it is counter clockwise to turn up the idle speed.

Good Luck

Set it to 750 on the tach. The stock tach is pretty off. I set mine there and when I had to go for my emisions test it was 805 RPM actual. Buy a can of throttle body cleaner and use and old tooth brush to scrub out the throttle body to make sure it isn't the deposits that are causing the rough idle. My idle smoothed out significantly with a good cleaning.
