Well so far I have my suspensions set up and my rims for my 1998 4 runner... I got OME 883's up front "yes I know for heavy stuff" with billsteins and OME n9cis nitrocharger shocks for the rear a panhard bar adjustment and the top plate spacers and lexus coils for the rear... I also got some cragar soft 8's just waiting for next 2 pay checks sliders and tires!!! So basically this stuff is just sitting around teasing me... I think the black on white will look good maybe Ill sell the running boards and stock rims to make some money...





While were on the subject Im thinking of going with a cheaper locker maybe a lockright or something anybody have any suggestions??? And I have a light in my car that says RR diff lock but no button for a diff lock is this odd???

 

Just took off the runningboards as well it looks SO much better...

i think every truck is outfitted with the rr diff lock light (on the dash, right?). it'd be way to costly for toyota to make two different dashes (well, 3, because they have one for an AT and one for a MT, i believe)... i'm 90% sure, without knowing it's there for sure (on MY vehicle), that it IS there.

probably better that way, so i'm not tempted to retrofit a locker in there....yet....

 

Haha makes sense I just didnt know for sure... im going to order my trailgear Rocksliders this week so hopefully they will be on next week I want to put my suspension in but I dont want my rig looking stupid with those small tires and about 4 of lift... haha...

Why would I say bye bye to my cv's???

 

Cause with 883's and no weight up front your cv angle is going to suck, and you dont have manual hubs.

So 883's and ADD = Cv's spinning at a crappy angle at 70mph on the freeway; = cv's turning into oblivion

 

get the diff drop kit from sonoran steel..that should take care of your cv joints.

btw, what do you need the spacers for? you already have the 883, which will give you a 3" lift..that should be ok for 33" tires unless you plan to use 34" or bigger tires

 

No, Diff drops dont do anything for CV angles, They angle the diff back giving a slightly better pinion angle, the dont help with CV angles at all.

But OP you can wast your money on that if you want.

I second the bad angle on CV's. They are going to cause you a lot of headach's down the road...

 

well i was going to fab a bumper and put a winch on but not right away... i wonder if i can call toytec and exchange em... or if i just fab up my bumper i was going to do a tube style but plate would seem to be heavier...

 

i just got off the phone wiith toytec they said the diff drop helps the angle of the cv's i think im going to order that and instead of get my sliders start fabbing a bumper... i think ill make a plate style one for the extra weight any input on thickness or any plans someone would like to share because ive never done this...

 

Just do us a favor and post a pic of the cv angles after the lift, then put on the "diff drop"
then post another picture of the cv angles..

 

and i will post more pics of the pickup later when im free to snap a few its my brothers 56 used to be my dads were getting it back together... beautiful year i also have a 1970 f100 im restoring its my in town truck...

 

well i decided im just going to get the bumper built earlier but i dont have a winch and i want to build a spot for one because im going to purchase one as money permits... any thoughts of how to do this and what thickness plate and mounts are people using???
