Question Can-Back Soft tops worth it?

I have a 1986 Toyota 4runner and I love it. I plan to do many things to it and one is adding a soft top. But it is more expensive than a lift and I am wondering if it is even worth it?

Welcome aboard.
I know if I had a 1st gen, it would be on my many list of mods.

Have you visited our Tech section yet?

There is a Can-Back article in there.

yeh, can backs are bad @$$ but i kno theyre expen$ive i totally wanna get one for my 91pickup. heres a pick that i made of my truck with a canback and bilstein 6100 shocks. and i went a little decal happy. i probably wouldnt do the downey decals

back in the days when i was a kid (not that long ago actually ) , my dad made a soft top for his f150. he designs and fabricates custom boat covers, bimini tops, canopies, and awnings. he used the bimini top frame and but it on his truck bed. it was pretty cool. it had windows that could be rolled up and everything. it could even fold back like a bimini top and lay flat along the tail gate and then u could have an open bed.

he never really marketed that, he onli made it for one other customer. i asked my dad to make me a can back style top, but he said hes too busy! DOH!:pat: oh well, someday.
