Can anyone tell me what this is?

Hi, I was on autotrader.com and I came across this truck. Im just curious what the button is under the air vent on the very far left. Im trying to decide what I want to do as far as a mud truck. Im considering making my 4Runner a mud truck and buying a Tacoma to drive. If thats a locker of some kind I will look for one with that. The truck in the pic is a 2000 Tacoma.

Yep, it is the clutch start cancel switch.

You can put your truck in neutral, put the key in the ignition, press the button(it will light up), and then start the truck. All without pressing in the clutch.

I believe its for when you on a steep hill and you stall out you can start your truck in gear and not have it roll back.

thanks. i dont know why i didnt think about that. my 94 had that. duh. i guess i need to go to bed.

however, i just got done reading the frame rust sticky at the top of the board. that kinda scares me. maybe ill look for a 01 or newer. i mean, it'd be great to get more than i pay for a truck but that seems like it'd be a royal pain in the ass getting rid of that and finding another one.

Yeah. I was also told that if you're bogged down that you can use is and use the torque of your starter to try to move the truck if you leave it in gear. Never used it for that but used it when the drivers door is iced shut. From the passengers side you just put it in neutral, hit the button and then start. A lot easier than climbing over the console.

yea, it says something in the manual about that. i was surprised at what it did actually. i cant remember how it was worded but it basically said that you can use the starter to get unstuck.
