Calling HID Experts...

I just read through a thread where some guy was supposedly blinding oncoming traffic. He didn't think so but others did. Therefore, I decided to post a question.

My buddy owns an Al & Ed's and he swears by HID's. He even has them on his motorcycle. He says that the ones that he puts into his/customer's cars are DOT approved. I know he doesn't retrofit them or even use casper shields. He said that he points them down and there is no issue.

I thought I also read that we couldn't adjust our headlights or the beam pattern. Help me either call out his B.S. or help me decide on getting a set. I really want brighter headlights and the 4crawler harness didn't work for me.

Any thoughts?

Thank You. I got it from someone else, and I got this problem of forgetting who. If I remember, I'll let you know.

It's one of those rare sites that just explains everything. There is no way you can disagree with that. You can just not believe it but that would be going against the smartest people in the world.

yes you can adjust ur headlight, through either the bracket or bracket and housing. the beam pattern is NOT adjustable. the reflectors arent design for HIDs. the reflectors give a CONCENTRATED spots, just like if you put back ur halogen bulbs.

if you have a chance and take a look at several HID reflector, then youll see that is has continuous vertical reflectors. however, halogen housing have small square reflector pieced together to beam the light in one spot. so 3rd gen housing is really not efficient for HID w/ those reflector design

you can control the glare w/ a shield (i guess ppl call it casper shield, or osemthing). the shield is to block out the bottom half of the reflectors, so the beam doesnt get flooded everywhere. iono much about HID, but i can relate these stuff to physics i know, from optics to lighting.

ill let you nkow further on my quest, as youre to reference this thread to mine.....LOL
