A/C Not Working

When I press the A/C button on my '91 4R, the little green light comes on, but I don't hear or feel the A/C kick in. No extra "load" on the engine either. Any ideas where to start?

My '91 did the same thing.
Bought it Nov. of '98, and later in the year found out it did not work.

Took it to a shop and they ran the dye through it and found several leaks.

They were fixed, new freon added, and as good as new.

By the way, there is a TSB for our year for the air-con for a unit that is behind the dash that can leak.
You are covered if it has not been done yet.
Mine had been done, so the dealer would not cover it again, and it was one of the culprits that was leaking again.

It could be the clutch on the compressor.

I'd almost stake my title that you are empty on freon.
Sounds exactly the same as how mine reacted before I got it fixed.

Most air-con shops will test it for free, including the dealer.
If you have a lot of leaks like I did, the dealer may not want to touch it.
They sent me to a specialty shop close by.

I had 4 leaks in all, ands the dryer unit needed to be replaced, and the bill came upto either $400 or $500.
This was my first vehicle with air-con, so it was worth it to me to get it fixed.

I hope I don't have to spend $400+ to get it fixed! I'll take it to the dealer and see what they say.

Thanks.
