A/C compressor? Clutch?
Well, I first noticed a bit of squealing when I turned on the defrost about 3 yrs ago. I was in northern az and actually needed it, but since then have just run it during the summer months (April-October around here). It's been getting worse though and after romping on the Point Sublime Trail this weekend, it howls when I click on the A/C, but still blows nice and cold. Is this most likely the clutch, and something I can replace with relative ease/low cost, or is the compressor itself about to give it up? Is it something that a reasonably-handy individual can even pull off?
Thanks
Thanks

yeah, most likely its just the belt if its squeaking. Check all the belts for cracks and missing teeth. Also, make sure the belts have the correct tension. loose belts can cause squealing...and I'm pretty sure overly tight ones can as well.

It followed me through belt change which is why I didn't throw that out as a possibility. Just to make sure though, would you happen to know what the recommended tension is on that, in terms of deflection when taught?
Thanks
