A/C burnt rubber smell
On my way back from Vegas last week I started to smell a burnt rubber smell coming from my vents. I had the A/C on and it was NOT on recirculate. I though, "Naw, it cant be me, it must be from the outside." But after testing it out, I realized it was me. My A/C isnt spittin out cool air any more, just warm. Any ideas?? Thanks

I think you may need to have the system evacuated and tested for leaks.
Check all your belts to see if they are tight and if any seem glazed.
Also check to see if the AC compressor turns over and is not seized.

Do you just mean does the compressor come on when I engage the A/C. Cause I can hear it engage but it sure isnt working right.
by the way, thanks for that post on the electical for my year and model. Im excited to get that taken care of.

Take it to a shop and have them pull the system down (ie hold a vacuum) and refill.

it could be partially working (engaging with a click) but just not turning as fast as it should be -- thus heating up the belt. the fact that the rubber smell and the lack of cold air occurred at the same time would seem to indicate a loose belt or a failing clutch.
