buy now, or wait till winter?

hey all, first post here but definetly not new to Toyotas. I have an 87 supra turbo so i'm hoping to add to the family. This however will be my first truck (hopefully) and i just had a few couple of questions. I'm selling my suzuki gsx-r and my winter beater to get a tacoma. First off i live in Canada where winters suck, and secondly trucks are just so damn convienient. I'll admit i don't do any heavy duty hauling but occasionally i always find myself always needing or wishing i had a truck.

I'm looking at the trucks 95+ and just curious because i've never really paid attention to trucks until now, but do they get more expensive during the winter or summer months?? for instance, bikes tend to sell cheaper in the winter and more expensive in the summer.

Thanks!

where in canada? out here in the left coast (vancouver BC), ive found the prices to be somewhat consistant throughout the year. i searched for a good 5+ months before i found the one i bought in dec and the prices for similar trucks were about the same when i started looking in towards the end of the summer. most price differences will be in trim levels & KM's. bikes of course are mostly a seasonal toy (for us canadians anyway)..so supply & demand is in effect there...

i'm in the east, here in ottawa, ontario. I know it's going to be tough finding the truck i want. I definetly want black, 4x4, pwr windows, pwr doors, 5 sp, xtra cab OR crew cab, 2.7L or 3.4L it don't really matter to me.......those are really the requirements i'm looking for.

The prices for trucks up here seem to be pretty consistent all year round, I doubt it will make a difference what time of the year you buy. Best of luck on finding that 5 spd but the rest of that should be pretty easy to get.

how come?? i thought 5 sp was standard on the tacomas except for the Crew cab tacos. I've already found my EXACT same truck locally, but i'm not in the market for atleast another month or 2.

i was going to say wait till late summer and the gass prices finnly sink in and people will be dumping SUV's left and right.... but i dont know that that will be the case so much up north

from what ive found the 5spd was considered an ungly duckling and rarely stocked on a dealer lot so you had to "order" a taco with it to get one. least they seem rare as hens teeth were i look.

I was surprised that some thought it would be hard to find a 5 speed. Where I live there seem to be more manual Tacomas around. In my neck of the woods the truck you mentioned would not be hard to find at all. Now if you were looking for a 4Runner w/ the 5 speed then I would say good luck.
