I saw this on my dipstick when i was checking fluids, and I was wondering if this is normal, or if I should be worrying about something. they don't have any particular color to them, they just look like little air bubbles. anyways, i would appreciate any info. Thanks

 

when you change your oil....do you see coolant mixed in with it?
seems pretty strange to have bubbles in your oil

 

Unscrew your oil filler cap. Look underneath...see water drops or non oil looking bubbles? If so, you have some coolant leaking into your oil. How's your coolant level? If there's coolant in your oil, you may risk damage by driving. If there's no coolant present, I don't know about those tiny bubbles. Good luck.

I have seen bubbles in the oil before. No cause for alarm. Get it good and hot and i think they will go away.

If it's there everytime you check, it's probably not a good sign. When the oil is churning in the engine with air, it's going to foam a little bit, however it shouldn't stay. It's like boiling water with the lid on. Water, compressed in there with some air, heats up, starts moving, you see foam on top..unavoidable.

Motor oil, as a viscous fluid (and the fact that it contains additives), tries to get the foam to dissipate quickly as foaming retards heat conductivity and promotes engine wear. Things such as water (or coolant, as above) encourage foaming so that may be all it is. If you see bubbles on the dipstick consistently , I'd say change the oil first. Perhaps it just has some water, coolant, etc. in it.

 

mine was doing this over at a buddy's right after changing my oil, and this was whte weekend after I changed the timing chain and guides etc etc etc. I gotta agree with Jay after it got hot they went away. Now when I check it everytime I fill my tank it has no bubbles cause its nice and warm.
