Broken Bug Deflector

Well it looks like someone broke the driver-side corner portion of my Toyota factory hood/bug deflector off sometime between last night & this evening. I can't find the broken piece anywhere (or I'd glue it back on) so I'm thinking it was broken off while I was parked in front of a small club last night. Damn, inconsiderate people. I guess I should have known better than to park it *right* outside the front doors. It was probably the result of wobbly drunks leaving the place...

Well, looks like I have to buy a new one now. I don't want to buy the Toyota factory one again so I'm searching the forums for info on deflectors after this post.

I'll be taking those ug-ily rubber mounds off soon, I hope they don't leave a mark. Does anyone have suggestions for removing them "nicely" and/or getting rid of any marks they might leave on the hood & fender?

Sorry to hear that, HBoss. Maybe you ought to get one of the ones made out of lexan? Lexan is bullet-proof, so it might possibly be drunk proof as well.

That'll teach ya to tip the stripper!

Go for the EGR 3D carbon fiber look guard No bumpers or gummy things and it will look especially good on a silver 4Runner:

Use a hairdryer and bug and tar remover. They will come right off.

That's a sunroof deflector, I'm pretty sure he's talking about the hood deflector.

HBoss I'm in the same market as you, my passenger side is barely hanging on, we had a thunderstorm with very high winds come through and it bent the pass side out and cracked it about 3/4 the way through. It was an EGR guard. (Didn't stay bent, but the crack is still there.)

I'm thinking about the EGR that Jason B. was talking about. I don't like carbon fiber though, does it come in smoked plastic, JB? Or black to match my Ventvisors? And do you sell them?

Do you have pics, Bob? I looked at xpel.com but all I saw were paint protectors and headlight protectors, not deflectors...

Anyone want to give us a group buy? With Frosty, Wild_Bill & me we'd have 3, yes THREE people buying! That's a group, in my opinion. Any sellers??

Not sure. I don't sell them, but they aren't cheap. Mine ran about $80.

A buddy of mine has the one like Jason (in fact his name is Jason also, scary!!!) anyway he had the carbon fiber one painted on the inside to match the color of his red F250, did it to the rain guards as well. It looks really good. I to am going to get the same for my truck and have it painted to match my blue truck.

As far as the rubber-baby-buggy-bumpers I had the old ones fall off of my hood when I had the old bug guard on. Didn't notice till the old one broke and I took the rest of it off. But now I have 2 really bad rub marks on my hood that need to be fixed before the rust completly thru.

Just my $.02

I have been eyeing this guys auction for those deflectors for some time now. Would you mind reporting on it when it comes in? Looks, ease of installation, quality, and what not? He seems to have a bunch of them. Perhaps a group buy on them if they are worth it? Thanks.
