maybe a brake pad slipped out when you installed the spindle, and its not in the caliper properly, or its not making full contact on the rotor.

Did you open up the brake lines when you were replacing the spindal?

Here's another possibility - If the hub can move, like with loose bearings or races that didn't fit properly to the spindle, the rotor will move back and forth and force the pads apart, giving you no brakes and the pedal will go to the floor.

REcheck the bearing preload.

I once destroyed a spindle, the bearing failed and the race seized to the spindle. The price of a spindle was insane! I cleaned it up and on the advice of an old-timer, dressed the surface with emery cloth until I could get a new bearing on. The new bearing went about 6 months - apparently it wasn't pefectly centered on the spindle now (go figure.) Again, on the advice of the old timer, I put on a new bearing and left it just a hair loose. That bearing had about 100k on it last time I saw it. But if you didn't hit your brakes for a while, the first time you hit them the pedal would go down a bit - not enough to cause No brakes, but enough you'd notice. I got used to it and never gave it much thought. Only happened occasionally.

and I couldn't resist on the bold print thing...
