Hey guys I have a 2003 Toyota tacoma dubble cab 3.4 v6. When ever I am coming to a stop slowly pressing my break pedal it starts to vibrate almost like the abs is trying to kick in. It dosent do it all the time but is quite annoying when it does. Any ideas on what could be the problem is

 

Check your rotors for run out.

When they warp, they vibrate in the pedal.

 

Not the rotors. I'm almost positive its the abs malfunctioning just wondering if anyone else had this problem and what exactly it was.

 

If your abs was malfunctioning, would it not trip a dash light? From my experience, abs lights come on even when I am unaware of a problem.

Have you checked the rotors? Dial indicator?

 

Abs light does not come on but the bulb might be blown not sure. Rotors have been looked over several times checked out fine each time.

 

when your braking on a stop does the steering wheel vibrate? if it does it may be warped rotors, and i agree with yodaforce if it was the abs it would trip the abs light and i think the truck is to new for the bulb to pop i got a 86 truck and the bulbs still hasnt popped

 

No vibration in the steering wheel only does it when I am slowly stopping all of a sudden its like the abs kicks on. No shaking when slowing from a high rate of speed. Dosent happen all the time

 

It's been doing this for about a year since I got the truck. Hasn't gotten worse or better

 

I hate trying to diagnose abs problems. Lol. Almost as bad as wiring.

 

Turned out to be a bad abs sensor in the back passenger side. Luckily warranty covered it. Thanks for the help guys!

 

I realize this thread is old, but I am having the same problem as you I think. So your truck was ten years old, and Toyota fixed it under warranty? Was that just because it was a break issue?

 

I had this problem on my 02 4runner...make sure the abs sensor on the hub is properly torqued. My abs would kick on while taking a turn on dry pavement and was extremely dangerous.
