Yeah, not a bad price.
I paid about $175.00 each for the 35 MT/R's (Q) last time I bought 'em, about a year and a half ago.

You may wish to consider 5.29's over the 4.88s.
I'm running 4.88's with 31's now and would think that 33's are about it for that ratio.

ALTNR8,
4crawler offers a 2" bumper lift bracket for the front bumper That is why there is no gap.

Fred,
Do you have a 4cy. or 3.4? The stock setup of 4.30's and 31's was plenty peppy for me and 20 mpg wasn't to bad either. Right now I am getting about 16-17 mpg. 5.29's would be good if I off-Roaded it alot but in reality I drive more highway than off-road and with the 4.88's I should get back into the stock range and better gas milage. Plus can you fit an ARB with 5.29's in the front 7.5?

Just checked my Gear set up options here since I'll be getting it done this coming week.

These are rated at 60mph

4.88 gear running 60 mph with OD should be 1996 RPM
4.88 gear running 60 mph without OD should be 2928 RPM

5.29 gear running 60 mph with OD should be 2164 RPM
5.29 gear running 60 mph without OD should be 3174 RPM

Now stock was:
4.32 gear Running 60 mph with OD Should be 1967 RPM
4.32 gear Running 60 mph without OD Should be 2885 RPM

Courtesy of Randy's Ring and Pinion Calculators.

Fred, You should be running: (with 4.88 gears and 31's at 69 mph)
with OD 2222 RPM
without OD 3259 RPM.

Does that sound about right?

Well, I'm actually over here from the Gen II group ('95 4Runner, 3.0, auto, 31's).
I'm turning 2500 rpm's doing 60 mph (with OD and TC locked up).

Remember that with larger tires, you can't just get back to stock rpm's at any given mph and expect the power to be the same. It won't.
You'll need to actually run at higher rpm's.
Besides the larger tires and wheels weighing more, you also have the added burden of the increased leverage required to turn the larger and wider tires.

I actually have the 3.0.
I'm running a '95 (gen II) 4Runner.
I'm getting right at 18 mpg as the rig is currently set up and that's most in town driving.

I have 4.88's and 35's. Its a great combo, my speedo is w/in 1%. Fred is correct that you should run a lower than stock ratio. But I will say that on the road this setup is great. 3rd gear at 4500 is great speed up hill, all relative (64mph). But I think overall 5.29's would be better offroad, but onroad I really like the 4.88's... I have enough power to pull hills at 4500 in 3rd, and 5.29's would cost me 5 mph, thats a buch when climbing long hills. I also have the heavy flywheel so my 1st gear torque is much better. You have a 3.4, so 4.88's also may be enough... WATRD only has 4.56's... grated he has a S/C as well, but also a ton more resistance.

It looks like you used the rolling diameter.. good deal, dont see a lot of people use it.

What did you use for OD gear? I got the same numbers for D, but my OD numbers are different. OD should be .705.

AH64ID,

I was taking the second figure from the calculator AOD (Automatic Over Drive). Isn't that right? That was the way I understood it.
