Bilsteins or Edelbrock IAS performers?

Need some opinions Guys. I'm getting 4:88's installed this week and gonna go with some new shocks at the same time. I'm stuck and can't decide between billies or the edelbrocks? .............Your thoughts?

Been wonderin' myself...so I'll bump ya. You might define what type of driving do/want to do...and add OME to that list also.

I have the IAS shocks, and I like them very much.
Been on the rig since October of '99.

Good on & off the road.

I thought your original set of IAS wore out and you replaced them with Bils...

Nope, I thought the shocks were wearing out too from the way it was behaving, but all is good now.

Right you are Duke!! Honestly it is still primarily going to be a daily driver/mall crawler. But I'd still like to have the option of some light crawling, trail running and hill climbing. kind of a deal where it truthfully won't see much abuse but it could take it if it got into a pinch. (ultimately I'd like it to have the hidden ability to run the baja 250 if you stripped it down to the bare bones kind of a deal.) You guys are the best!! Thanks for the interest.

I've been strongly considering OME comfort springs in the back (getting some sag) and OME comfort shocks all the way around. Also been considering a torsion bar change up front to a 24mm bar. If I knew what IAS shocks would fit those OME springs, I would probably go with the IAS instead of the OME. I have Gabriels right now, and I can tell you what NOT to buy.

IAS shocks will work with any aftermarket 2nd gen coil.
Using them with my Downey's off road is no problemo.

My brother recently replaced the stock Bilsteins on his Chevy 4x4 (98,XXX miles) with Edelbrock IAS ones and he likes them a lot. I think it rides better. But, the Bilsteins did last 90K+ miles and actually the front ones were fine but the rear ones were about shot from all the heavy loads he hauls.

If you are going to beat on them, then get the Bilsteins. If you just need new shocks, then get the cheapest ones.

Dan, you know what I think. We've had this conversation. The IAS Performers from what I've read are really good. Cut body sway, tighter feel, the inertia valving (like my mt. bike fork) helps cut brake dive and forces from on top from activating them but activates very smoothly from elements underneath the tires. Also, they are red/black instead of the Bil's funky yellow/blue on top of all that. Do it, Do it, Do it!--shane

I've run both Bil's and Edelbrocks on my wife's T100 (before it was lifted). They were both good, but I liked the Edelbrocks better. They have a ton of control without sacrificing the ride at all.

Soon I'm going to figure out a way to run the Edelbrocks with the lift. They only make them for a 3" IFS lift, so some modification is in order. In the rear I'll just use their Xtreme travel shocks and fab my own mounts.

Those are all great shocks, you can't really go wrong with any of those 3 choices. At some point it comes down to personal preference, and my preference is the Edelbrocks.

I don't know if they still have it, but Edelbrock used to have a thing where you could try them out for 30 days, and if you didn't like them for any reason at all, you could return them for a full refund. I don't think many people return them though.
