Best way to widen my track?
All,
I'm thinking of upgrading the springs/shocks with OME numbers on my truck, and also doing a 1"-2" body lift....
...that said, I'm pretty keen to widen the track of my ride and am wondering if anybody has any recommendations? I figure that I have two options:
What are the pros and cons of my options??

- Change the rims from the factory alloys to something with a bigger offset.
- Add wheel spacers
What are the pros and cons of my options??

The weal spacers will give you the option of running narower lighter tires that won't suck as much gas but if you really want to go off road you are better off with wider rims/tires for added traction. Kinda depndes on what your priorities are and how much you have to spend.

hehehe, ummm its nice but I'm not really a lowrider kinda guy.
I was wanting the wider track so as to make it all a bit more stable when cornering and on cross slopes when 4wheeling.
I guess I'm wondering if there is a benefit to either spacers or different rims. like will it add undue pressure to my CV etc... and will it help prevent scrubbing when i go to a bigger tyre????

wheel spacers are jsut a band aid... get new wheels... if you decide to get like black rockcrawler type wheels, tis actually cheaper to get them then wheel spacers...
(btw, expecting my first on July 4th.. then I can be proud daddy too)

Width won't add stress to your CVs, although bigger tires obviously will. More width will usually CAUSE rubbing, at the fender edge, pinch weld area, and bumper ends, that narrower rims (or less offset, or both) won't have.

Tires running outside of the wheel wells will also kick up more rocks and do damage to your body without getting flares. The people traveling behind you on the highway will also like the fact that you kick up rocks. In some states if you're a gross offender, they can actually ticket you.
