Someone replied to my post (which is still new, "4th Gen Tire and wheel" size). Some have the BFG ATs in 265/70/17 and it looks like the spare fits under there with the hitch. Take a look at the thread. I'm going to be gettin BFG ATs in the above size. Good luck!

Goodyear

I have seen Goodyear get a lot of bad press on here about normal road wear and handling, but my 285/75/R16 MT/Rs are great once they were properly balanced on the GSP9700. If you just drive around town and are not on the highway a great deal, I would recommend the tires I have. (A co-worker of mine calls them the "Goodyear Blimps" since they are so big compared to my old 225s) Some folks would complain about the noise, but to me it is not a significant amount more than any other oversized tire, regardless of the tread type. If tire noise is a problem, get a louder stereo!

I recommend getting some Goodyear MT/Rs as I love mine!

Where in NY are you? I'm just south of Syracuse, in the Binghamton area (Vestal, to be exact). I run Bridgestone Dueler ATs because I want a tire that's good in all conditions, dry roads, wet/snowy roads, hardpacked trail, mud, and rocks. The Duelers deliver. They are a tremendous tire in the rain and snow, and are reasonably quiet. They ride smooth, and wear well. I'm very pleased with them and would consider another set when these wear out. I've got about 45k miles on them now, and I'll probably replace then next summer, so I should get 50k out of them before everything is said and done. For all the different types of driving conditions we see up here in the northeast, I think the Dueler ATs are a great choice, regarless of whether or not you spend time on the trails. Trail performance is just a bonus.

A few people have recommended BFG Long Trails. I strongly advise against them. I had them before my duelers, and I pulled them off after only 2500 miles. They are terrible in the snow, and tend to hydroplane in heavy rain. I was very disappointed with them. They are a great dry tire, but up here in the northeast, they are not a good year-round tire.

I have one word for you...MICHELIN!!! I have the X Radial LT's on the runner that I bought at Sam's for right at $120/ea. I love these tires! I had the LTX M/S on my Taco, while those were good too, ($140/ea) for the $ you can't beat these tires. Treadwear is rated at 500, that is excellent for a truck tire IMO. Ride is super quiet, grip is excellent, and my gas mileage went up about 3mpg in the city when I made the switch. I have no experience with Toyo's personally, but I had a friend that had a set on his Cherokee and I remember he only got about 30K out of them. I am hoping to get ATLEAST 60K out of the Michelins. Because so much is riding on your tires<---- Shameful Plug!

I have some Michelin LTX M/S in 275/70-16 that I'm going to sell later this week. You can have them for $200+ shipping. They have about 7/32 of tread left, which should be good for about 20-25k more miles. You can't beat the quiet amooth ride. I'm selling them cause I just bought the 4runner and I want some A/T tires.

Let me know if you are interested... Here's the pics...

He has a 2" RB Body Lift and is rubbing some. He's adding a suspension lift after Christmas.

I have a 2" body lift like he said and I rub on full turn and I rub off-road too so I'm going higher!

I've got 85,000 miles on my Michelin LTX/MS 31X10.5. I will get 100K out of them no problem. It's almost amazing!! Great tire, looks good, quite and lasts forever!!!!!!!!!! The guy at Butler tire told me to rotate them every 7k and keep the pressure at 35psi and they would last that long, I thought he was full of it.
