best body lift?

I'm ready to do a body lift but I have no idea which one to get and woould like to have some insight. Also, can anyone with the proper tools and half a brain perform a body lift? I will be lifting a 95 SR5 ex cab pickup.

body lifts are real easy, i got the performance accessories one from 4wheelparts.com came with everything you need. its real easy to put in, i used the rotary jack that came with my 4runner on top of a solid concrete block ( the jack alone isnt near tall enough) with a 2x4 on top of the jack to spread out the force so you dont dent the body. took me about 2 hours with a buddy to help.

location

butler georgia about 50 miles south of macon 50 miles north of americus. I have been doing some reading and I am a lil woried about all the extension stuff that goes along with the body lift such as steering and clutch units is this a big deal.

By the way how do you like your rock crawlers I am considering some and wonder if they are good rims.

the steering extension takes about 20 min to put in, no technical knowledge required. i had to do a shifter extension for my 5spd and 2wd-4wd shifter but id leave that for a pro ( the welding cost me $10 at a local muffler shop ). you dont need any clutch extensions that i know of. the only other things to worry about are the gas tank fill pipes and maybe a couple ground wires in the engine bay but neither is very difficult to take care of. i liked the perf accesorries kit i got cause it came with everything you need like bumper brakets the steering extension and the shifter extensions, and its still only 100 bucks.

i love my black rock crawlers, i thought they were ugly till i saw them on another truck. not to mention they are CHEAP

will the shifters operate normally after being lifted without being extended?

ummm, sorta. depends how high of a body lift you do. just picture that the transmission stays at a constant height while the floor of interior rises up whatever size BL you do. so the shifter will still work it will just be lower to the floor. if you do only a 1in body lift you shouldnt have to extend anything, not even the steering i dont think. for a 2 or 3in its a must however

Make sure you get your shifter extensions welded up really well. I installed my Performance Accessories body lift yesterday and today on the way to work I broke my shifter off What a pain. I didn't extend my 4wd shifter as it didn't need it and there's not a lot of room to work with on it.

i have a 94 extra cab 5 speed. i put on a roger brown 2 inch body lift about 2 months ago. there is a rubber shift boot isolator ( ? not sure what it's called ). i had to take that out in order for it to shift. no extension or other modifications done to my shifter. without the shift boot, it's very loud inside the truck, but i've gotten use to it by now. i've read somewhere that the shift boot can be inverted and it'll work fine.

if you go with a 2 inch lift, you'll need to extend the clutch rubber line, otherwise it'll be tight. you can replace it with a front brake line witch is longer. i extended the clutch line 2 weeks before i actually started lifting.

i recommend taking the front bumper and valence off before you start lifting. it wasn't in roger brown's instructions. (maybe i jacked it too high).

i also got the radiator relocating brackets. don't need to drain radiator. just hang the radiator with some string.

about a month after the body lift, a power steering line started leaking. replaced it with heater hose bought at Autozone.

i actually lifted the cab first and didn't have time to finish the bed, so i drove like that for a month. it looked weird but it drove fine. i just finished the bed 2 weeks ago. i have some 33 inch tires and some 15x8 rims that i am planning to install this week (or next week ?)

good luck.
