Battery Cable Extension

I just bought a new battery for my 97 4runner, but it is a little different from the old one. It is shorter, so the battery holder does not clamp the battery on its own. For this I added wooden spacers on top of the battery, but there is another problem: the way the terminals are placed, my battery cables are too short to reach them. This may be partly because of the body lift, but the old battery fit fine. Is there an easy way to extend the battery cable or terminal so that they reach?

are the battery terminals in the same spots as the previous battery? also, you can always put a piece of wood *under* the battery instead of on top as spacers.

Sounds like now would be a good time to upgrade your battery cable(s) to heavier gauge wire.

You can buy battery cable extenders for an interim solution until you plan out the wiring swap / upgrade.

Thanks for the help. I wired in an extension and it works fine. I might look into upgrading the wires down the road.
