ball joint spacer install finished

ok, i've searched the board for a while before starting this install so get as much info. on it beforehand. i just started taking everything apart and i've got the bolts hammered out of the ball joint but i can't get the ball joint to disconnect from the upper a-arm. are they supposed to just come apart after the bolts are out? i don't think i'm missing anything. but please lemme know what else i need to do. thanks in advance.

Should just come right apart, is there a lot of rust?

hit it with a hammer... watch out though, unless the suspension has been unloaded they are under extreme pressure and the jolt could potentially knock your vehicle off of the jackstands you have it on.....

snap-on, matco, mac all have tools to do this....

harbor frieght has one too, the HF one costs like $8

Yeah I was going to say back off the t-bar adjustment to unload the spring force.

i got it off fine...just put something between the upper bumpstop and the upper a-arm like other people have done. the install is all done now, except i've gotta go pick up a few more washers so the shocks don't limit the down-travel. i'll post pics soon.

thanks to phil (strapp22) at toyota of dallas. i stopped by and picked up the spacers in person and it was a pleasure doing business with them. i'm sure to go back to them in the future when i have more money for mods.

they are working now!

I'm pretty sure my BJs are shot so if Im swapping them, I may as well get spacers - IF they have a good benefit on the ride... So how do you like the BJ spacers?

well i've only had them in a day and i havn't gotten my shocks adjusted yet so that they won't limit my downward travel, but i like the stance of my truck now. the spacers are quality and the install wasn't too bad, shaving the a-arms took a little time but overall pretty easy. i think i'm gonna hit the trails again this next weekend so i'll let ya know how it does offroad now
