Can someone explain backspacing to me or show me a thread that explains it clearly. ive searched but cant find good ones.

Easy to measure yourself as well, here is a 15x6 IFS steel rim showing ~4.75" backspacing:

Good page, about the same information I hae on my page. Note that they are incorrect in their backspacing to offset calculation, the forgot to account for the thickness of the lip of the rim, which is typically around 1/2" / 12mm.
