Auto Window problem

I'm experiencing a problem with the front right door window control on my 02 4Runner. The problem started after I replaced the original speakers only on the right door. Now when I raise the window using the auto up function it returns back down once it reaches the top. I suspected the auto function, but it works up, or down like it is supposed to. I think the problems lies with the pinch protection in the window as it lowers half way down automatically when reaching the top in the auto up mode. The window will stay up if the window is brought up manually. Can anyone help, or further explain the pinch protection components? Is there any literature available to troubleshoot, or adjust the pinch protection function?

Hello ALL,

For those of you who are interested in the problem. I did not receive any replies from the forum, but did check with the dealer. Like always they are not much help, but every now and then point you in a different direction. I was told by the mechanic ( after consulting his repair manual) to remove the window motor and wind it 6 second in one direction, or 4 times in a direction to reset the motor and then install it. Well it did not work! After catching hell installing the motor twice I took a closer look to figure out the problem. All I had to do was to roll up the window ( kept it up with some duck tape) and then with the motor off, I pulled the window switch up in the auto mode until it stopped on its own (about six full turns, or 20 seconds) Once it stopped, I installed it, and Ta, Ta, It worked! The hardest thing was to fit my hands in the tight area, but now it works like a champ. I hope this can help someone in the future. For any other question feel free to drop me a line.

Later

Sorry dude, I missed this the first time.

On mine, if you manually raise the window and hold the switch in the "UP" position for an additional count of five, the window pinch protection will reset.

ancient

so these fixes have not resolved the F passenger window AUTO up, and then rolling back down to 1/2 way.

if it makes any difference, the auto function on the pass door does not always work (bad contact) but does from the drivers control.
does the pass switch needs to be used for the reset??? i can fix and it last a few months... (gonna try either way)

anyone else had this issue?
and what fixed it?

Having the same problem on a 01 4Runner. Please confirm my interpretation below is correct:
-raise window, duck tape in place
-remove window motor from regulator but leave wired for operation
-pull window switch up until motor stop on its own (20 sec)
-reinstall

This is driving me crazy!

This is a pretty old thread, the OP might not be around, have you tried the FSM-> Body Electrical->Power Windows Control System:Adjustment. Its at the top of the Forum page, but this should link you directly to your problem area.
