Please guide me to the right thread if this is already been discussed. I have a 2002 4runner, I might be purchasing a 98 4runner as a parts car. Just wondering if it's feasible to swap the tranny from the 98 to the 02. Is there any difference between transmissions? Thanks!

 

They should be the same. The 4wd is an A340F, the 2wd is an A340E. I’m not sure the difference between and E and F (probably tailshaft configuration). But as long as you are using 4wd -> 4wd or 2 -> 2 you should be fine.
