ARB Bumper on a 97 4runner

I am about to put a ARB bumper on my 1997 4runner. I've done some research and I know you use the taco bumper and remove the frame rail plates.
I was just wonder if any one in the East Texas area has done this.
I would appreciate any help provided.

If by frame rail plates you mean the frame end caps, then yes, you'll want to remove those and weld some angle iron inside the frame IF you are going to be using a winch. Our stock frame rails were never intended for the type of force a winch puts on them. If you do not plan on having a winch, you can simply just take your stock bumper off, and slide the ARB directly onto your frame rails and bolt through the factory holes in the bottom. I had to do a little grinding to the surface of my frame to get the bumper to slide on without binding up, and greasing the rails works well too. Good luck.

And if you plan to use a winch and reinforce the frame end caps, this is what the piece of angle iron should look like that you weld in.

And heres a thread you can follow to help you along the way.
