Anyone tried this style of HID conversion before?

Just purchased this set:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220359879929

Anyone ever tried these out before? I'm starting to see these replacement headlights with the projectors, all over the place. Even versions that are blacked out (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=160315052066). I don't mind being a guinea pig for these, but I thought I'd see if anyone already had any experience with them.

And to be specific, I'm not talking about the HID kit itself. Specifically the housing and projector setup.

let me know how this works. I've been wanting to get HIDs but wanted to do it right with projectors. However, those headlight housings in the picture looks like its for the 2nd gen 4runners/tacomas

They don't look anything like the 3rd gen 4runner headlights. I would say they do not fit.

As far as I know, these only work in the 95 and 96 tacoma, and I would guess maybe the 95 and 96 4 runner?? They are replacements for the sealed beam lights. My understanding is that the 97 and higher tacomas, no longer have the sealed beam lights. But I have also seen assemblies for the 97-04 tacomas that look way nicer.

These will arrive Monday, but I take the truck in First thing Monday morning for a complete body fix up and paint job.

I think they will be really nice in your 95 taco. When I had mine I went to the silverstar sealed beams because they were the best at the time. D

^^^ EXACTLY those.... They look awesome!

I think I may end up getting the blacked out housings eventually. I'm starting to think that will look really nice.

Truck goes into the shop Monday morn for fresh paint, so I'll get these installed late next week!

So, it's been a couple of months since I redid the truck. It's been repainted, every piece replaced, and I installed the new headlights. I love the HID setup itself, but the headlight assembly is a bunch of CRAP. The way the projector is situated causes a hole to be created in the middle of the light pattern. It doesn't spread the light evenly. When I purchased them, I kind of figured the projector glass was sealed off from the rest of the interior, but that's not the case. The light it reflected off of the back of the housing, and some of it bounces back forward through the projector glass giving a half projector look, and half headlight look.

IMO, don't purchase them. I'm going to replace the assemblies eventually. The HID kit itself is GREAT!
