Anyone running 22inch rims on there 4Runner's ?

Lifting it with SS 7.2 and 22's. And those gold rims look horrid....I don't see how the chrome rims look trashy compared to CHEESY gold plated one's lol Those are Brittany Spears trashy if I ever seen it. And if I don't like them I'll just sell them for 3x what I paid. When you can get rims and rubber for 1800$ and the rubber has about 2K on them....Can't go wrong...I can turn around and sell them to someone that has a Escalde or Avalanch.

Jay your 4Runner looks good with the 22"s, I say get them! Of course 98% of people on here are going to be against a clean looking 4Runner on chrome because this is mainly an offroading site so they are going to give you hell...
I had 22"s on my 02 and I took very good care of it and kept it in the best condition...

Just for the record I never had any problems at all with braking, they are not dangerous at all. I had my 22"s for around 2 years and never had a problem, all of you who are making assumptions should probably get your facts together, it may decrease your gas mileage it a little bit.. I believe on my 08 I went from an average 16.5 to 16.0..... wow big difference.

You may want to look up those "CHEESY gold plated" wheels. New they probably cost more than those CHROME PLATED 22s you are buying. As far as those rims are concerned, I'd say buy whatever you want to buy but at $1800 I personally don't think you are exactly stealing them regardless of how much they cost new, there are a lot of things I'd rather spend $1800 on. Mainly I just wanted to point out that you get all pissy when someone doesn't like your wheels, and then you call a set of Volk wheels CHEESY.... BTW what brand are the bling blings?

Me pissy? I was just agreeing with the other people that though those rims looked terrible. Can someone say forum troll??...looking to start online drama haha. And they are made by Eagle....not cheap. What is wrong with a lifted 4Runner with SS 7.2? Takes me an hour to take off my 22's and put back on my cooper stt's...so really its not a ruined off-road vehicle its used for both on-road and off-road. If you have nothing uselful to contribute to the thread don't post. You do your thing and i'll do mine
I may even have them powder-coated black....will that be ok with you ?http://www.americaneaglewheel.com/

Jay, I think you should go with one look or another. Lifting it and putting 22's on there is just going to look trashy, IMO. Bigger rims, less sidewall with a HUGE gap is going to look very odd. This is why on sports cars, when you get bigger rims, it's almost always necessary to lower them in order for the rims to "look right" on the car. This is the same case with SUV/Trucks.
Either keep it at the stock height with the 22's (or even lower it) or lift it and put some 33's on there on 16" wheels (or even 18").
I am not against big rims, but IMO, I think they look good on Escalades, Denalis, Rovers, and those Infiniti QX or whatever. They do not look good on smaller SUV's like 4Runners.

yeah I know what your saying, I just want to see what it will look like. I have new tires on my stock rims, so if I don't like the look i'll just sell the 22's...lots of Escalde's around here. I haven't seen a 4Runner lift + rims....so we'll see how it plays out. I don't have the BEST off-roading territory to modify my 4runner's like a lot of you guys do. I just couldn't go anywhere that would require as much mods as a lot of you have done. I do realize that maybe I will dislike the rims and just get rid of them but no one where I live have anything done to 4Runner's....no lifts no nothing...i see at least four 3rd gen's a day and there are barebone stock. i kinda want to be the first to have something nice in my area, whether it be on-road or off-road or both. Sure it sounds ridiculous...but its my first vehicle..and most importantly my first yota. I'm just going to see what suits me best. Thanks for all the feedback guys.

I would also like to point out that I was one of the few people who said that it was your truck so you should do with it as you wish, but you don't really seem like you fully get the grasp of everything. $1800 for those wheels isn't a bad deal, but its not like "OMG I have to get these". You said if you didn't like them you would just sell them for 3x what you paid. Good luck getting someone to pay you $5600 for those things. If you lifted it with an 18" wheel or maybe even 20" wheel, and then put some meaty tires on it, I don't think it would look bad, but I personally think 22" rims are just TOO big. The rims and tires were on a stock height 4Runner right? If, so they are going to like a little odd on a lifted one.

First off it's your 4runner, do what you want. Don't worry what people on here are saying.
Is $1800 really a good deal though? I found four 20" on ebay for $1,000, new.
If you are lifting your 4runner I would think about going with a smaller rim and a bigger tire. Let's say you want to go off road so you change to your stock rims/tires, those are going to look odd with the lift. I think I would get about a 18"-20" rim and a bigger tire, not huge, but bigger.

larger wheels isnt going to have any significant effect on braking any more so than the larger tires that 90% of this forum runs. larger tires are as heavy as larger wheels so they both contribute to more rotational mass. 22" wheels with 31" tires isnt going to brake any worse than 15" wheels with 31" tires. there may be some SLIGHT braking distance differences due to differences in weight between tires and wheels but that's all on a case-by-case basis. i just dont get the thought processes some people have.
i personally don't like the 22s but as has been said many times, its your 4runner, do what you want. this is an offroad forum so the responses are as expected. ask at customtacos.com and you'll find that 90% of them say they look good.
