Question Anyone know where to get a 3.0?

My brother has a 2nd Gen Runner. Something happened with the head gasket (I'm not sure exactly what) and consequently blew the engine. So I was wondering if anyone knew where to you would be able to pick one up or possibly get it rebuilt, preferably in Colorado.
Oh and here are some pics of it.
Thanks
Austin

There is a shop in Colorado Springs that sells the 3.0 for about $1800 with exchange. I forget their name but I'm sure you can find it if you search with Google. One of these numbers should be it.

They don't make or rebuild the 3.0l anymore...it's ahhhhh, ilegal...yeah ilegal. I'll take that runner for a parts car though. It's worthless, but I'll give your bro $500.00 just 'cause I'm nice.

I just ordered a remanufactured 3.0L from Jasper. It was delivered outta' Denver, so I got it in one day. We are finishing the install tonight...FINALLY!! Seems like a great engine, and was the best long block I found after TONS of searching. Great customer service too. (The first block was dropped by the delivery company, and they sent another that was there in less than 24hrs.) I'll let you know what I think about there work tomorrow I hope!!

www.jasperengines.com BTW. A little pricy, but hte best block I found by far.
If you do go with them, get the install kit. It is worth it. I parted it myself and it cost $100 than if I used their kit.

The Yota Yard in Denver has just about anything you can think of. I went down there for a new mudflap and bumper trim piece a few months back. Kind of a PITA to get to but worth the trip. In their warehouse they had like a whole aisle full of 3.0s... Call or email them before you go just to be sure they have what you need.

Has the head gasket recall been done in that 4Runner? If not, Toyota should help you out.

Just say no to the 3.0. How much is a 3.4? I bet it would be a ton more because you would need all the efi crap too.

As far as I can tell the problem with the head gasket is not what the recall was done cause I think that may have been done. Like I said I'm not entirely sure, just trying to get a few leads for him.

As far as a 3.4 goes I think it would be too expensive. I told him to do that as well but I believe that he talked to ORS and found that doing something like that would end up costing way too much.

Yeah, the 3.4L just didn't seem very realistic to me either. The Jasper I put in sounds GREAT!! We are still a tooth off, and need to just fine adjust the timing after that. Started right up though. The 3.4L sounds great, but is just not AS practical as a 3.0L crate engine. The Jaspers come with an oversized cam, and new valves so that helps the power a bit. While the engine was out I also went ahead and put in a Random Technology high flow cat. I think with all of this, we will be sittin' pretty power wise.

So what exactly is Jasper? A company that re-manufactures engines or something? How would we contact them? How much did the engine end up costing? Sorry for all the questions, I'd just like to see his rig up and running before the weather gets nice so we can go out wheelin. Thanks to all you guys for the info.

I had just replaced the long block in my 91 3.0 4runner. The company's name is: www.orientengine.com (859)654-1754. For more info, go to their website. After ordering, it was at my house in a few days... I've put-on about 1K miles so far and haven't experienced any problems so far. The engine comes with a 3 year warranty-which sold me! What ever you decide to do, make sure you change the "KNOCK SENSOR and wire.

Happy trails

I've got a 3.0L with a bad bottom end, you can use the top end for your rebuild. I'll sell it way cheaper than a crate engine
