I've heard mixed things about using Dexron VI in a trans designed for Dex III. I know it is backwards compatible for GM transmissions but I've heard that transmissions in other brand vehicles that were originally approved to use DEXIII can be finnicky with DEXVI. I've done a fair amount of research and decided to use valvoline maxlife DEX/MERC. It is supposedly a synthetic trans fluid even though it isn't advertised as one and is a lot cheaper in cost. A lot of people on the bobistheoilguy forums say it is an excellent fluid to use. I will be changing my trans fluid to this tomorrow and will post a small review afterwards. I feel more comfortable using a DEXIII fluid in our trans's due to that is what it was originally designed for. This is only my opinion, and Im sure you would be fine using DEX VI.
