any pictures of oil filter and plug location 3vze?
it's below freezing here and i don't want to spend too much time outside. any write ups on changing oil on a 3.0?

IF you've never done it beofre AND IF you don't know where the drain plug and filter are AND IF it's that cold outside AND IF you don't have a warm place to change your oil and filter, THEN I suggest you go to the nearest Jiffy Lube, Pep Boys, garage or wherever you've had it done successfully before and pay to have it done.
IF your truck is anything like my old '90 4Runner 3.0, then the skid plate should come off. In cold weather, that's a royal PITA.

The 3.0 is similar. You don't have to remove the skid plate to do the oil, the drain plug is on the very bottom of the pan, near the back. 17mm wrench if I remember correctly. The filter is a bit harder. It's visible throught the wheel well, and I've heard some people have changed it by reaching through there but on my 93 I could never get it out. I had to remove the skid and get it from underneath. It's about a 30 minute job if you've done it a few times, probably closer to an hour the first time.

You can get the filter out if you go in from the front of the wheel well. It gets oil all over everything but whatever. I'd rather have to wipe up a little oil over taking off the skid plate.

If you have a body lift you can probably get to the filter through the wheel well, if not then the factory skid plate is in the way of getting to it. My Superlift skid plate is not in the way but the factory one was.

Changed my oil just today! (cold here too!)
I have a body lift and could *just* get at the filter through the D/S wheelwell. Could reach it from underneath too. No skid plate in the way though.
Plug's 14mm.
