Any ideas on what this is?

Toyota did the balljoint recall along with all the fluids being swapped out.

After I got the truck back (As soon as I drove it back) I knew there was something wrong with the steering as it felt "disconnected" and would wander all over the road and very noticeable when the wind was blowing.

What could this be? I will wait to tell you what they said it was and that they want to charge a lot for it.

By the way... My hood on the 4Runner went for paint, and my truck came back WITHOUT the power antenna. It came back with the lights that are inside the climate control broken. It came back with a burn in the front bumper like someone left a cigarette on there too long and burned/melted a nice mark into it. I am not concerned about the burn though as much as something I will be reminded of each time I drive it like the light and the vague steering.

All is being taken care of EXCEPT the bumper.

But they want to charge almost $1000 for something THEY did. What it is... I have no clue. It's toooo cold here to play around outside with it myself.

I agree. and get a lawyer to write a nasty letter to the place that did it, and I bet they'll pony up the labor for free, NEVER pay for something the shop messed up.

They are trying to put the cost under the extended warranty that I bought.

The truck blowing around on the road reminds me of how mine felt when The front sway bar link broke both sides and so it was essentially disconnected. Didn't really have that disconnected steerong feel though.

My geuss is loose bolt(s) mounting steering gear box, or idler arm. Easy to check. Might wanna bundle-up, and see, instead of handin' over that kinda $.
Happened to me, progressed to point where I could turn the wheel 180 to'n'fro, truck went straight. Don't be a MudHippy, whatever ya do.

Hudson Toyota.
(Crystal on 22 sucks as well... they had TWO easy car sales, but wanted to force me to pay for some ugly ass 20" rims on the XRunner and said they threw the stock ones out... their loss)

Sometimes they are good, most times they suck.

They did change the power steering fluid and blamed that too, but I never felt it before on anything else I owned.

So anyway, they said it was something with the rack and pinion and want $980 to fix something they screwed up.

Any other ideas?

nnj toyota dealers

Hello all. Have either of you done to Parway Toyota? I have been going there for years and they have been nothing but wonderful. My only complaint is they are located very close to the GWB so traffic can be ..... interesting and as a result my g/f won't drive there to drop off my truck.

also... My truck is finally paid off and soon I will be starting the mods so I may pick your brain from time to time if that's ok
