Any 22Rs come with a tachometer?
If so what's the redline? Input from 22RE drivers will be appreciated also.
According to this site. I'd be at 4288 RPM at 65 in 3rd gear. I don't go above 60 in 3rd on steep highway grades, but i'd like to know how close I am to the redline when I do that.
Thanks.
P.S. I have 4.30 gears, the closest estimation on that link is 4.27.

I set my warning thing at about 4200RPM, I went ahead and took the car up to 23mph, and then set the needle a little lower than where it was reading. The owners manual says not to exceed 25mph in first gear, so thats how I based that decision. Here's a pic, although, in the pic it is higher than it is now.

Ok. That's kinda useful. Did you guys have that site crunch your numbers?
And Plays_With_Toys, does that odometer say 93900 miles? Did someone disconect the spedo cable for 10 years before you got it? I'm at 206000 now.

my '79 with a 20R has the in-dash tach redline set at 5500. i'm pretty sure a 22R has a 5500RPM redline, while a 20R has a 6500RPM redline(due to the hemi head design)
personally i wouldn't go above 4500

You read correctly. I am the 3rd owner, the first was a mechanic, and he didn't use it much, but took good care of it, the 2nd hardly ever drove it (my neighbor), in fact, I never saw it move, but he says he took it out maybe once a month, 2 or 3 times in winter. And now I have it. When I bought it, it had 78,000 miles on it, and now I am at 94,500. $3,700. The paint is junk, and the bed is rusty, but I have seen plenty with more miles and in the same condition going for about that.

jx94148 i checked my numbers on that site and it seems whey off on how fast you will be going and the rpm's. i agree with kyle 22r that going above 4500 it just makes more niose you don't really gain any acceleration. thats where i usually shift or a little sooner.

I have the 22RE, installed an aftermarket tach, and set the red line at 5000. Very scientific approach to choosing 5000 RPMs. I drove around and reved the crap out of the engine. Decided that I couldn't stand how it sounded above 5000, made me think it would start flinging out internal parts any minute.
