Anti -Freeze overflowing

Hi new member here. I got a 90 V6 4runner that is puking anti -freeze into the over flow tube. It already had the Head gasket done 1 year ago. (40000km.) It Doesn,t get hot or run any different but when I shut it down I here noise and noticed anti freeze dripping from the tube. The anti freeze does go back into the rad a minute or two later. Oil is good rad is full. Coolent clean. Head gasket? Rad cap? or what.

Mine was doing that because I had poured some of that stopleak stuff into the radiator and the stuff had clogged the radiator cap pressure "valve" open. I replaced it with a new one and it is just fine again. (this was on my 94 3.0)

thank you for the reply Seafarinman. This all started last week. I went out to check all the fluids and opened up my rad cap. Every thing looked great. but now it over flows every once in a while, when I shut the truck off.I ,m hoping its just the cap.

Try the cap first. They are cheap.

Does your radiator tube go to the overflow bottle? If so, is it overflowing the bottle?

Do the cap first and let us know. The HG would cause the overflow when running.

I will try a new cap today and let you know whats happens. When it does over-flow it sucks the fluid back in almost right away.thank you cheers

So is it just spilling into the bottle and not on the ground? Most cars do that to some extent due to the water circulation stopping (then the coolant has "afterboil"). Change the cap and see if that helps any. If it isn't getting low in the rad, or spilling onto the ground I wouldn't be overly concerned (only check rad when it is cool!!!)

I drove it home from work today with no problem at all. Let it set for 1 hour, drove to local dealers and got a rad cap and anti-freze. Drove around town for about 20 mins and nothing . It drives almost like new. Tomorrow I will flush the system, get all the air out,and hope my problem is solved..But if it isnt, I will keep you informed.
