I am confused by your request. You are asking for a lot from somebody. If you really want to do this you should just pony up the cash and buy a wrecked truck motor. This thread is almost 2 years old. You have been thinking about this for 2 years. If you were really motivated to do this I think you would have found the parts you needed by now and buy them.

Let's face it, there is little to no market for this motor in terms of cams. This is not a powerhouse engine that has tons of potential. The only way you are going to get power out of the 3.4 is Forced Induction. Even then, this engine doesn't have enough volume to really make use of cams other than what come stock. You would have to do some serious tuning if you were to make this 3.4 a high revving motor and then it would be useless for wheeling or even day to day driving.
Better off sticking to Hondas in this crowd.
