Annoying Ticking Device..aka VSV

I know I've read it here before, but I can't find it now. My annoying little ticking device has begun to tick...LOUD. This is the VSV, right? Anybody have any info on that? Part numbers?

Hey im not sure if this is the same ticking im getting recently. You can hear it if you drive at really low rpms and have the window up. The sound seems to be coming from the ac area.

On my 98 3.4 the VSV is on the drivers side close to the cab. When I had the hood up I could hear ticking coming directly from there. From what ive read it is normal and my 3.0 had the same sound. I don't know if a new one will be any quieter unless they designed them a little differently.

Right, right....I THINK there's a TSB on it for the Taco..but I only have TSB access for my 4Runner. It's right in the driver's side corner of the engine bay with the rest of the EVAP goodies.

It's "normal", but there's a fix for it.

Do you recall what year Tacomas the TSB was for? The only recalls for my truck was a safety sticker that needed to be added when the dealer ran my VIN.

TSB is not a recall....it's purely optional

im sorry what a vcv. Does it deal with the damn evap canister. Cuz when my runner is on. I hop outside i can hear this air pumping sound coming from the evap. But inside it sound likes a wheel with ticks and clicks. Kinda like the sound of wheel of fortune.

TSB exists for vacuum switching valve ticking for the 98 Runner. I have read it on my Alldatadiy subscription.

So do TSB's get fixed free of charge? Will the dealer have lists of the vehicles covered?

Yeah it's part of the evap system. Same exact sound I get. I don't really care about the sound though since it's just the VSV working.
