How many of you have changed to these. My brake pedal pad is worn through again. Before I buy another one of these things, I wanted to ask about these aluminum ones.

First, how well do they fit. Are they a snug fit, or are they "sloppy" since they are kind of a one-size-fits-all accessory.

Second, how is the grip? What if you have hard soles on your shoes (dress shoes)? What if your feet are wet?

I got a set for my 89 4Runner and I have mixed feelings on them.

I found the brake and gas pedals are too close together (due to the width of the over pedals.
Grip is OK but I find sometimes that it gets slippy if my shoes are muddy.

Fit on the ones I have is OK as they clip over the existing ones.

 

Cebby I just ordered some pedals from Jason B. I'll ley you know how they turn out!

 

I got the $19 set from Pep boys and i love them. Just follow the instructions on the package and you will have no problems.

I think the larger width and length is an advantage in, say an emergency, since you can hit the brakes even if only part of your shoe is on the pedal.

 

Thanks for the info guys. UK - what pedals did you order? I just picked up a new brake pedal for $4 from the dealer, but I'm still considering the upgrade. My dad has an Ford Explorer 98 or 99 which I botrrowed while my Runner was getting the rust fixed. This thing has the pedals too close together imo. When the brake pedal is depressed, I kept hitting the gas pedal and revving the engine in drive with the brakes on. Disconcerting at the least. If these pedals make my Runner anything like that, I'll have them on for mere minutes before yanking them.

 

i got mine from ebay check it out in my pictures I just posted about three pictures of them, they are chrome and they are supposed to glow blue in the slots, but i'll have that hooked up on the 6th, and after the 6th i'll have a whole different section for pictures of the installation for the screen and alarm

I would take some actual pictures of the pedals with the digi, but I lost the hard copy of my site information during a suprise reformat so I am unable to update the site any longer. However you can catch a glimpse of the pedals in this shot.

The fit VERY snugly, They grip much better (i.e after a day at the lake with some wet and sloppy sandles, feet stay attached to the pedals nicely, like the feel of driving with bare feet as well.) I have had the pedals for around a year now and they are in superb condition.

When installing be sure not to place the brake and gas to close to eachother!

I put aluminium pedals on mine a couple of years ago as my feet kept slipping off with muddy wellies on and they havnt slipped since. With these ones you drill the pedal and bolt them on . I'd highly recommend it!

 

this may sound weird, but i think the best thing to do would be to get some new plastic pedals. Before installing them go to a skateboard shop and but a sheet of grip tape, but that on there. Ultimate grip, and if it wears out, cut a slit and it will peel off perfectly. Then put a new piece on.

I got the cheep ones form Checker, and well, I'm not to happy with them. The gas pedel keeps falling off!!!! I'm thinking that I'll drill a hole and sink a big bolt into it just to make it work.
