Alternator - weird connector

Alternator - weird connector - (RESOLVED)
Hi all.
1999 4Runner - 6 cyl.
changing the (stock) alternator out, and I'm stuck on a connector I've never seen before.
There are 2 connectors, the first is the wide style with the single tab you push down and pull the connector out. That one I have.
The second is an odd plastic gray connector... looks a bit like a rubber boot?
I can't seem to get that one off.
I found this thread:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/h...necter-229427/
Where the guy was having the same exact problem. Sounds like he got it, WITHOUT then explaining *how* he got it off. Pry it off? Push and twist?
I've tried twisting left and right, but don't want to apply too much force and break it.
So... a *detailed* "how to", would SURELY be appreciated. Cuz I'm dead in the water right this second, and this is my daily driver.
Thanks all.

RESOLVED.
That was not a connector. In fact, it WAS a plastic "boot".
It does NOT twist off in any way. I took a small screwdriver, and gently pried one of the sides outward (from the rear of the "boot" where it meets the wire). A very gentle pry and it very easily came off.
What is under there is the wire with circle, and a nut holds it on the post. The plastic thing is nothing more than a boot. If you broke it, you could get a rubber boot to replace, like the old models had.
