Are all 24F batteries interchangeable?

Looking for a new battery for a 2001 4 Runner SR5.

For various reasons I’m going with an Interstate Mega-Tron Plus. There are two version, MTP-27F with 710 CCA, and MTP-24F with 800 CCA. Both are Group Size 24F.

But some of the shops only show the 710 CCA version as a replacement. If both are 24F shouldn’t they both fit? Is it just that they consider the 800 CCA overkill?

My guess would be the 27 is a group 27 and the 24 is 24 and wrong information was given. I am familiar with both, older diesel fords take 27 and 65s depending ,on year. 24 comes in 24 and 24F which the terminals are reversed. 24F fits 96 runners as I bought my son one recently. Stick with the 24 it is smaller than the 27 and will fit better. The battery location on 1st gens is pretty forgiving but your factory plastic base is designed for a 24. Interstate and other sites provide dimensions etc. for batteries.
sorry thought you were running a 1st gen, but if 2001 is same as 96 8 would go with the group 24f. Sorry for the mumble of info but sometimes a larger battery might have lower cold cranking amps but larger reserve capacity. Hence the larger 27 vs the 24. I think the info you got was yes both will fit and the factory battery is a 24f.

It says they are both 24F's but you may have a point that one of them is just a typo and they are actually different sizes.

I'll ask to look at the actual battery and see what is printed on it - but thank's for pointing that out, I hadn't noticed the GroupSize in the product codes.
