Question Airbox mod on 95 3.0L V6?

Hey all....can you do the airbox mod thang on a 95 runner? BTW I have recorded a whopping 22.5 mpg hgwy and 18.5 mpg city in my 97 Runner after doing the deckplate mod! WOOHOO! Also, another friend suggested adding the Tornado, which promises another 20hp. Any thoughts? If you all havn't done the deckplate mod on the 3.4L yet... GO! Get yer tools and start !

Pic is of my rig...let me know if u can see it! Thx all, -Raptor

I'll just let you know right now that the tornado is a pile of crap. Not worth it if it was free. BTW, welcome to yotatech.

In the tech section there is a mod for the 2nd gen airbox. It does help airflow but probably doesn't have the impressive results of the deckplate mod on the 3rd gen. Did help bottom end power a little for me.

Welcome to the Forum.

As far as the Tornado, I have one installed and it makes no difference in our Toyota engines. That device, does make a positive difference in domestic vehicles because their intakes are not as tuned (read this also as not as efficiently engineered) as our Toyotas. So don't bother with buying one.

If you thought the Deck Plate mod was impressive as far as results......do a search and try the ISR Mod. I did the Airbox mod on my 3.0L (this is comparable to the deck plate mod in the 3.4L) and I saw some improvement, but it wasn't until I did the ISR mod that I really woke up the engine in my truck.

Here's mine, and there's a link on that page to the tech article here on YotaTech:
