Airaid MIT quality???
I just recieved my Airaid MIT in the mail and I can't say the finish is what I was expecting. Granted that it is plastic, there are still a few things that irk me.
1) The threads on the two vacuum ports aren't very clean at all. I can actually peel of shreds of plastic.
2) The inside of the tube isn't as smooth as I was expecting. Running my fingers on the inside of the tube, I can feel several minor bumps and looking into the tube I can see the pattern of bumps run the length of the tube.
Both are minor issues and I don't believe they will affect the performance of the intake tube, but I was just wondering if this is normal quality. Did the rest of you Airaid users encounter this?

Yeah, mine was the same but it sure beat having the ribbed OEM tube.
I used brass fittings from Home Depot or Lowes (only one the two stores had the correct size) for the vacuum ports...they seemed to thread in a bit tighter than the plastic fittings.

So we've got 2 with this quality issue, one more and I'll strike it down as "normal" and stop worrying like a moron.

I got one of those airraid kits, really woke her up. the guy also gave me a throttle body spacer that i never put on yet, I'm kinda skeptical. I love craigslist. Got $380.00 worth of stuff for 100 bucks.

Okay, I just tried installing the MIT and it just doesn't sit right.
The couplings from the tube to MAF is too long and causing the coupling from the tube/throttle body to go over the hump on the TB creating a bad seal. I looked at some of the pictures online and it appears I've recieved different couplings. Mine are a simple rubber with AIRAID embossed and NOT a glossy grey with orange "AIRAID" lettering as I gave seen.

I got the same as yours. ty couplings. Oh well. Works just fine as of now. As for the aligning of the pipe, loosen all the airbox bolts. This will allow the box to move forward just a little. Then twist and line up the pipe and made sure it looks good. tighten the clamps down then tighten the box down.

Definetly leave the throttle body spacer off, they do nothing on our direct port injection engines unless you need swirly air before it goes into the combustion. It never swirls with the fuel thus doing nothing.
