Airaid jr intake kit
I was looking at the Airaid jr kit at http://www.airaid.com/510-734_toyota.asp. I was wondering if anybody here has used this on a 1996-1998 4runner as the site indicates that this is for the 99-02. It doesn't look as if the MAF will be a factor with this kit. Thanks.

I have the AIRAID modular intake tube, really good build quality.. Sounds good too... and it is only a 100 bones. I've also done the deckplate mod and I have an 18" Magnaflow..
Overall, if your looking for performance.. I would say save your money. If you want sound, I've been told my truck sounds awesome.

Cool, sounds good. I am interested in one. I've thought about the isr mod, just don't feel like doing the actual mod. Just a note, it's a bit funny that the ttora forums down talk the isr mod and yotatech crew love it. I will admit that the yotatech family has served me much better than the ttora forum. I definately have to admit that I am a proud member of Yotatech.

Just do the intake tube. I have one and a stock filter for now. Cutting a hole in the intake box soon - deckplatish. I had the K&N filter and removed it the first time i cleaned it and saw how clean it was - knowing that my paper filters got really dirty fast.
I have no idea how good that airraid filter is?

The CS rep i talked to was clueless. Email replies were one sentences.
I wonder if their just hiding real information why it shouldn't be used? Seriously.
One CS rep said it won't clear the hood. lol ok
The tube HAS an "extra" barb that was needed for my '96 but it's capped off from the Airaid factory. Meaning i had to buy my own fitting to use it. It would be REALLY nice to know why.

I just double checked to of our Airaid parts catalogs and both only go back to '99. Now, this doesn't mean it won't fit previous years, but that's all they've tested them on.
The easiest way to figure this question out would be to give a dealership a call and ask for their parts dept. Get the part number off your intake tube and ask them what years it fits. That's what I usually do in situations like this.
It worked very well when we restored our 88 Mustang GT.
Talk to you all soon,
John

Since your a dealer, you should let them know their Airaid intake tube will fit '96-'98 4runners without any issues. At least i think so. I told/showed them via emails and phone months ago yet every online site that sells them today still advertises '99+

FYI: I just double checked a few of the other intake brands that we carry, and none of them have the same part numbers for the 96-99+....All are go thru 98 and stop.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the effort. It doesn't really help but if you want, shoot me a PM and i'll call you to better explain the details (with pictures) about Airaid's 4runner intake.
I don't believe they only tested them on '99+. If you buy a tube for a '99+ it comes with a CAPPED barb thats needed for a '96+~
