Yo. I just installed air shocks in the rear of my runner. Awesome man. You can adjust them to your load or to what you are towing. The ride does not suffer from them no matter what the PSI is. Very worthy upgrade. I think I got gabriels. Call carquest. They also have some for a 4runner.

How about air bags? They work great on 3/4 ton trucks and bigger.

I'm running them front and rear, I like them. I'm using Monroes in the back and Gabrials in the front. I recommend installing a valve so you can unlink them for on-road. Running them cross-linked on-road is kind of like removing your sway bar, a little scary during high speed turns. I can vary my rear height about 2 inches by going from 25 psi to 110 psi with an empty bed. The front I can vary about 1/2 inch with the same pressure change. They really shine off-road because when cross-linked you still gain the height but don't lose any articulation.
