AFM Mod

I have been looking for an old thread that talked about changing the AFM on the 3.0 for better airflow, I can't find it.

SO I am going to start it up again.
Is there a way to open up the AFM in the 3.0 for better airflow? I have heard about getting one from the SUpra, but not sure about that.
Any Opinions?

The only AFM swap I have heard about was performed on a 3.4L. The person who performed it was Gadget.

Also, doesn't the 3.0 use a VAF? Or am I full of @#$%?

I'd do the ISR mod for the 3.0, along with the Airbox mod. That AFM should flow more than enough air for that engine.

It is a Vane Air Flow Meter. You 're not full of #$@%.

The supra afm is for the 22re. The afm from a 82 supra is a dirrect fit plug and play into a 22RE. Can't be of any help for the 6cyl.

I feel so bad today b/c I "tried" to clean what I thought was my MAF and pulled out the connections for the AFM. WHile it is torn apart right now, and before I try fixing it, Would the MR2 AFM give me more performance? Where can you get something like that. I am curently living in Denver at about 6000 feet elevation. What is the best course of action?

Is this on a 3.0L with an AFM?

If so, you're not the first person to do that.

No, it is on my 22re. I am going to try and solder the conections back together. While I have the black cover off of the top, would ya'll advise adjusting it to run leaner because I live at a higher altitude?

Been there, done that. It takes a steady hand and a small pointed soldering tip with thin solder. Make sure the solder doesn't cross the tracks. Good luck.
