Advice for 03 taco rollover...

My poor 03 tacoma decided to test it's rubber at some freestyle the other day and didn't manage to keep it rubber side down. All joking aside, I ran off the road and slid off a 8' bank landing upside down in a shallow creek. The motor and frame all seem fine, nothing looks shorter than normal and it was a low speed collision where I pretty much flipped off the road and fell completely upside down. My insurance is, well...I'd prefer not to think about it . I'm hoping there is some way I can fix the truck. The cab is squashed and the pillars, esp. drivers side are bent but still "look" straight at the bottom. Is it feasable to cut the roof off and weld a new one on, given you can find a donor roof? The doors still line up and the back window is still intact. I know it's hard to picture, so I'll get some photos up later this evening. Just looking for some advice? Maybe I should just remove the body and build a roll cage?

even thou they may look straight they most likley aren't. it would be rather hard to put a new roof on it but could be done its going to cost you and nothing will ever line up right again. Maybe a cage would be the way to go but that looks like that was your daily driver and that would suck to lose it as that.

good thing your ok

A good body man could probably weld a new roof on for you, but will be costly. Pics of how it looks from behind with the canopy removed could help too. When I rolled my Bug in '84, the roof became separated in a couple of spots when someone had replaced the roof from a previous roll...Fortunately I had a full cage..

If your insurance is not gonna help you out (that sucks ) You can find a cab. 2001+ should work (I think, maybe the early tacos would work too). Check out several forums..here (yotatech) ttora.com, ultimateyota, customtacos.com etc there is always someone parting out trucks.

A cab swap is of course a lot of work, but something to be proud of. Downside is that your truck would more than like end of with a salvage title or a brand...

Glad you are ok!
