Are these slightly taller/stiffer than my 97's? I imagine they are made by Moog, or some such...

Does anyone have any experience with them?

I've looked at local junkyards for old 99 rear coils, but no luck in my area...

I have the dreaded rear sag on my 97, and would like to cure the problem.
My stockers have 220K miles on em too

Not really sure if the moog coil for a 99 would be any different than a moog coil for a 97 I am guessing that they are all the same rear coil. The 99 was the only year that was taller so I don't see moog making a special coil for 99 models... I have a a 99 and to me it still seems to sag. I have read about people using 99 front coils (which are a little taller than other years) paired with an old man emu 906 coil, this combo seems to sit level. If you get the 906 and run it with the 97 front coils you might have a slight rake. Best bet to get the 99 coil is go to a dealer but the ome 906 coil may be cheaper from toytec.

 

the toytec ome 906 springs for the rear are a no go.
they said it will cause a lot of rake with stock front springs...
Hopefully somebody on here has bought the moog rear springs and can chime in on how effective they were.
I could go to the dealership for 99 rear coils, but I assumed that they would be really expensive...might give them a call for a price.
I could also replace all of the springs with the toytec stuff, and get a 1.5 to 2 inch lift. I just didnt need a lift for what I do, and didnt want to have to mess with the front springs also if I didnt have to.
but if this is my best option, then that is what I'll do

I installed new '99 coils (front & rear) back in '03 or so. At the time, I believe I paid around $60 each from Texas Toyota.

I wouldn't mess with unknown coils from a car parts store....

It's also possible to get the 906's and pull the conical bump stop out which would reduce the height by a 1/2".

The 97 4Runners didn't have the conical bump stops, Toyota didn't start using them until half way through 1998

 

The 97s didn't have the conical bumpstops from the factory but if the tsb for the rear springs was done then you will have them on a 97.

 

Yeah those are oem springs from an online dealer, if you look up toyota oem parts in google you will get several online dealers they all seem to have the same parts lookup catalogues.

Ok, just making sure these are toyota factory springs and not something else...the manufacter and material used in making coil springs can greatly affect their performance and longevity....so i wanted to be sure

Cool, I hadn't thought about trying to get a local dealer to price match. What did the local dealer want as far as proof of the online price?
