abs light
#2
Drew,
Not sure I understand a rear ABS light. I thought there is only one ABS light on the dash. Can you be more spaecific? What year is your truck, you didn't say whether you bought it new or used?
Anyway, welcome to the forum Drew.

Hey Drew what year is your truck?(Edit) I guess pete beat me to the post about the year. BTW welcome to the board! Sometimes the manual will give you a trouble shooting guide on that kind of stuff. Sorry if I insulted your intelligence if you have already looked their. Good luck with your fix, hopefully it's something simple!

Welcome to to board.
I have a 92 and it was the speed sensor switch. Dealer cost and installed for $185. The speed sensor switch is located in the axle as I understood it, could be wrong. Anyways have fun with your toy.

Thank you for all the welcome in's. The truck is a 93 v6 4x4 I had also heard that it could possible be the rear speed sensor. Also the light only says abs I just said rear abs because it only has ABS in the rear. If anyone has any other ideas I will look into those too. Until then I'll try to find this rear speed sensor.
Thanks again, and I'm sure I'll post a lot more things here over the years.

Drew if you click on User CP at the top of the screen and then click change options you will see the Avatar stuff at the bottom of the page. Click on change avatar and you will be able upload a pic right off your PC. Only catch it has to be 120X120 pixels. Good luck!

Check your brake fluid. I had the ABS light going on sparatically on my 94, until it finally went on and stayed on. I can't remember exactly how I came upon it, but it turned out to be that the brake fluid was low. Much cheaper than a speed sensor, hopefully it's just that.

I have a 93 T-100 4x4 and had the same problem 2 months ago. The light would come on after driving it for 10-20 miles. When cold, first thing in the morning, it was fine. Turns out it was the sensor in the rear axle. I don't know how to check for codes but I'll tell you what I did. I pulled the connector to the sensor and used a ohm meter to check the sensor for continuity. When hot (after a few miles driving) the sensor was was not workin (meter didn't move) When cold the meter registered a complete circuit. Simple job to replace, just one bolt in my case. Sensor was about $100. HTH, Bob
