99 Fog Light Install Problem!

I bought a toyota Fog Light Kit for my 99 4Runner off of eBay and I went to wire the kit and it wants me to scotchlock two wires that are not there. The Kit is actually for a 00 4Runner, does anyone know if they changed wires from 99 to 00?

Where are the wires you are talking about supposed to be? Is this the wiring for the lights themselves...I mean where the wire in near the light?

I installed this kit on my 2000 4Runner (it was the first 2000 off the boat in September '99....literally....I ordered it in April 1999). One thing I will tell you...make sure the kit has some kind of sheild for the back of the lights....I think the new kits included this...if not there are several threads on this forum about making them.

The lights had a defect.....when driving through water the tires cause water to spray violently on the back of the light housing...this causes it to fill with water and corrode....this happened to my first set...then I made the shields and installed new lights...no problems.

Excuse me if this is common knowledge, but what does scotchlock mean?

I am not quite sure myself, but I believe it is the wire connectors that splice a wire to another wire by crimping across it and cutting into the insulation. I don't know if I have ever heard them called by name though.

Take a picture of the connector that you are trying to connect the wires too.

Can you get some digital pictures? Do you have access to a scanner to scan the instructions? I now it's a PITA but better than $180.

I'm not clear on what you are trying to connect. I am assuming the kit came with a harness of some sort? how long is it?
