99 4Runner won't idle

My 99 4runner 3.4L V-6 has 220k on it and has not needed any repairs - yet. Burns NO oil and no leaks. All is original except the MAF sensor, both O sensors and TPS, all replaced within the last two yrs for emissions. This evening, after driving 100 mi roundtrip to work today, I ran in to town and when merging on to highway, tromped on it and got it up to 80 (and near redline). After that it has not idled at all. The only way to start it and keep it running is to have foot on gas. What's up with that?? Looking at linkage while running, the linkage doesn't even try to regulate the idle, it just dies. Help!!

No check engine light? Might wanna start out by looking at all your vacuum lines/PCV.

It didn't pop or backfire..... nothing to blow a vacuum hose loose. It just dropped down into passing gear and I wound it out a little. Just blew some carbon out. My guess would have been a sensor. Like I said in earlier post, linkage doesn't even try to keep it idling.

Well if it would've been a sensor you'd most likely throw a code...no unusual sounds, even when you have to add gas to keep it running? Might wanna check your throttle body and IAC valve. The butterfly valve could be sticky.

Yea that sounds kind of od if it didnt throw a code? un plung the battery and wait a few seconds and put the cable back on. It might re-set the computer and possibly fix it? somthing might have went funky in the computer?

Well I've run my trk so long with the check engine light on that it finally burnt out a few months ago, so it may have thrown a code. I will disconnect battery in the morning and se if that works. Thanks.

lol~! Atleast you are honest about it. Dude you really need to take it to the autostore and see what codes you might be throwing, unless you don't care to maintain your vehicle. Atleast we know not to buy if you put it up for sale on here
