99 4Runner SR5 Sunroof Resto

At 80mph, it's a bad time to lose glass on the intestate. Pulling to the emergency lane and rolling it down wasn't a difficult choice. The sunroof has been letting in water, but it was mistakenly blamed on a clogged drain. A huge sucking sound came from behind the decorative and functional sliding moonroof door. I opened it to see 1 corner holding on by a thread. The rear passenger corner was lower than the rest and it was the only corner still holding on. I had meant to level the sunroof because the wind noise was getting bad. Now, I'm sure of where to find the Torx 25 screws in the frame that level the sunroof.

Enjoy the dissection pics.

Question - Should the surrounding rubber and felt gasket material that holds the frame together be replaced? Is it a dealer part or is it universal sunroof material?

Toyota Dealership quotes that the prices are as follows:

Sunroof/Glass with Seal - $676 (Seal isn't sold seperately)

Metal Sunroof Frame - $312

My solution : Krylon for $3 + $11 for 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive

Clear shot of the separation -

Not much heat was needed from the heat gun to release the glass from the frame -

The rust on the frame has been bubbling up the metal, causing the adhesive to release from the window -

3M weatherstrip black adhesive will be used to adhere the sunroof glass back to the frame once the old glue and rust has been removed. The frame will then be painted to prevent rust in the future and require the same repair over again -
