99 4runner limited hit in the rear parts question

I just got hit at a stop light by a log truck and had damages the rear obviously. What I'm looking to replace is bumper and rear hatch. My question is whether I can use parts off of any third gen runner or if there were any changes between 96-02. I know the front changed a bit but want to make sure I don't buy any useless parts. My 4runner is a 99 limited. Thanks for looking.

There are several changes throughout all the years.

96-98 Bumpers will not work, mounting is completely different though it appears to look the same. Its NOT! You need 99-02

Rear hatch shell is the same throughout the years, but wiring harness, ECU, trim, and emblems are different.

Best bet is to find 99-00 parts for 100% interchangeability.

Where are you Located?

No problem. Reason I ask is because if you were close enough I have all the parts you need to fix it, but I am located North Washington, about exit 202 near the freeway. Long drive I imagine.

if I make it up that way I will let you know. still trying to decide what to do with it. love it but it has 350k on the original motor. runs good but just feels like a matter of time before she blows. rest of the body is in good shape so its hard to give up on her.

OT, sorry:

Josh,

Can the mounts from a 1999-2000 model year be used on a 1996-1998 model year? Just looking at future options in case an accident happens. Then maybe a 1999-2000 bumper can then be used on a 1996-1998 model year.

Thanks!
