99 4runner fog lights

Hello everyone!

I have a 99 4runner Sr5. I got these hella foglights for my 4runner from a toyota dealership. This is the 2nd time they have fell apart from road salt. Last year and now this year. I was wondering if anyone has installed the factory limited fog lights into their SR5--or if its even possible? If anyone could help me out it'd be great!

gomezza,

i see you've taken my advice and joined! welcome!

but as i said in the email, please use the search feature. try searching the terms "99 foglights" and see what comes up

btw, those 99 foglights are notorious for failing due to road/debris contamination

Contact Hella North America directly. Take a few pics of your corroded lamps and email these to them. I did that more than two years ago and received a new, revised set of Micro DE lamps that to this day, have not corroded.
The ones that failed were on the truck when I purchased it brand new in '01. I live right up the street from you in Maryland, so I know about the road salt crap!
Find their site, look for a customer service contact, and fire off a clean, factual email with pics. I think their US location is in Georgia.

EDIT: found it. hella.faq@hellausa.com

Here is a pic of one of mine:

How did you mount the DE's? How do they look? Did Hella require a receipt... I dont think anyone keeps those things haha..

Fog light Idea-- need input!!

So, I got my replacement hella DE's for my 99 sr5 4runner from Hellausa. I told them that this was the second time my fog lights fell apart. The rep. at hella told me that its common for these foglights to go on the 4runner in areas that have a lot of salt during winters (As I do in DC/MD). The guy was real nice and sent me 2 new lights.

He suggested that I make a sheild around the lights to protect them. Has anyone done this? I plan on getting creative w/this but just wanted to hear some input. I would like some ideas. I plan on posting pictures once i'm done. Any idea's anyone?
